Everlasting – Chocolate Display Cabinets (“Chocofrigos”)

Everlasting is an Italian brand known for specialized chocolate refrigeration (and pastry fridges). Their Chocolate Green series fridges hold chocolate at ~15 °C with controlled humidity. These are precision machines – common faults often relate to sensors or environmental conditions.

Typical Faults & Diagnosis: Everlasting chocolate fridges are often operated at higher temperatures than normal fridges, so ambient conditions are critical. If the unit does not turn on at all, Everlasting’s manual suggests to “check the plug, socket, fuses, [and power] line” – ensure power is reaching the unit. Assuming power is fine but the refrigeration unit doesn’t start, consider if the controller is in an off state or if a delay is active (some controllers have a 2-3 minute delay on start). Also verify the master switch (if equipped) is on. If the fridge runs continuously but cannot reach the set temperature (e.g., stuck around 20 °C when set to 15 °C), check for a dirty condenser or fans not working. In Everlasting’s troubleshooting chart, one cause for not reaching temperature is “condenser is dirty” or “insufficient coolant”. A dirty condenser will diminish cooling capacity – clean it and see if temperature improves. If refrigerant is low (“insufficient coolant”), you’ll need a certified technician to find the leak and recharge. Another cause could be the condenser fan not running (if the condenser fan stops, high pressures will cut out cooling) – check if the fan at the bottom/back is spinning; if not, it may have failed or the unit might be cycling off on high pressure. Also check door seals: Everlasting units are well-sealed to maintain humidity – insufficient door sealing (gaskets not airtight) can cause temperature and humidity loss. Replace any damaged door seals to restore proper conditions.

Ice on the evaporator is an issue especially in high-humidity environments. If you see a block of ice on the evaporator coils, the fridge will struggle to cool. This can happen if the door is frequently opened in a humid room. You should manually defrost the evaporator (unplug the unit until ice melts) and check that the automatic defrost cycle is functioning (Everlasting chocolate fridges often have electric defrost to remove moisture).

For water or ice accumulation in the drip tray: this suggests the defrost water isn’t evaporating properly or drain is blocked. Empty and clean the drip tray. If ice is accumulating there, it might mean the heater that evaporates water isn’t working or too much humidity is entering (again check door seal and ambient humidity).

Everlasting’s digital controllers also throw error codes (sometimes denoted with P# or E# codes). For example, P1 error has been noted for chamber probe failure in some Everlasting manuals (P1 corresponds to the internal sensor). You might see an E1 or similar code on newer models – treat it as a sensor fault and replace the probe. Given the critical nature of correct humidity for chocolate, Everlasting fridges might have humidity sensor or heater faults too – these would typically require an authorized technician to diagnose (as per Everlasting’s instruction, “for any technical problem…revert to your dealer providing the code and serial number”).

Fault Code Table – Everlasting: (Generic guidance – refer to model manual)

Code Meaning Diagnosis/Remedy
P1 / E1 Cabinet sensor fault Internal temperature probe failureyumpu.com. Action: Check connection or replace sensor. Until fixed, unit may run continuously or not at all (some Everlasting controllers halt to protect product if sensor fails).
P2 / E2 Evaporator sensor fault Coil sensor failure (unit may not defrost properly). Action: Replace defrost probe. Monitor manual defrost in the meantime to avoid icing.
H (High) / L (Low) Temperature out of range These fridges sometimes display an “H” if too warm or “L” if too cold (varies by controller). Action: Treat as alarm – investigate door seals, ambient conditions, and condenser.
CH (on some models) High humidity alarm If equipped with humidity control, an alarm may show if humidity goes out of spec. Action: Check water reservoir or humidity module function, and door openings.
Power LED off, no display No power (Not an error code, but a status) Indicates power supply issue. Action: Verify mains power, plug, fuse, and master switch.

Maintenance Tips: Everlasting chocolate fridges need to be kept in a stable environment. Keep ambient humidity moderate – excessive room humidity can overwhelm the unit’s dehumidifying ability, leading to condensation or ice. Clean the condenser monthly due to the higher operating temperature of these fridges (chocolate units reject heat at a higher temp). Everlasting’s manuals also emphasize not to overload trays and to leave space for air circulation even though chocolate fridges often have drawer-style fronts. If an error persists or you observe an anomaly you can’t resolve (like the unit not stopping at set temperature despite reaching it – which could indicate a control issue), it’s best to contact the dealer or Everlasting’s technical assistance with the unit’s model and serial to get specific guidance.
